Planning a Seoul Trip for Revision Eyelid Surgery

Planning a second eyelid operation in Korea is different from booking a routine beauty appointment. A previous procedure may have changed the tissues, and the concern visible in a photograph may not reveal its cause. DI Plastic Surgery lists revision eyelid surgery among its Seoul procedures, but an in-person surgeon assessment must come before any decision to operate. A sensible travel plan leaves room for a different recommendation, more time to heal, or no surgery.

Book the assessment before fixing your return flight

Tell the clinic when and where the earlier operation took place and what now troubles you: a fold that changed, asymmetry, visible scar, heaviness or a functional eye concern. Bring the prior operative report if available, a medication and allergy list, and dated photographs showing how the eyelids changed over time. Describe dry-eye symptoms, difficulty closing the eye or changes in vision. These details help the surgeon decide what to examine; they do not determine the operation remotely.

DI’s published procedure information says revision may be considered around three to six months after an earlier operation and that swelling and redness should have settled. This is not a universal waiting rule or a promise of surgical eligibility on a particular date. Ask the treating team whether your eyelids have healed enough for a meaningful opinion, and do not buy a non-refundable surgical package based only on a remote photograph.

Prepare questions that affect the itinerary

Ask what finding explains the concern and which options should be compared, including waiting or not operating. If surgery is discussed, ask whether the plan addresses eyelid-fold position, scar tissue, ptosis or another issue; where any incision may be; what the realistic limits are; and how prior surgery affects risk. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends reviewing previous surgery, eye problems, medicines, anesthesia, possible outcomes and complications at consultation.

Before paying for flights, ask how many appointments the team expects before and after any treatment, whether a support person is advisable, which visits must happen in Seoul and how urgent questions are handled after you return home. DI’s consultation guide explains the difference between an initial inquiry and an in-person assessment. Your own follow-up timetable should come from the treating team rather than another traveller’s schedule.

Choose accommodation for follow-up, not only sightseeing

Accommodation near the clinic can make early review visits and rest easier. Keep an option to extend the stay if the plan or healing changes. The clinic should explain activity restrictions, eye care, warning signs, how to obtain medicines or supplies and when travel is appropriate for you. Do not treat a general recovery estimate as medical clearance to fly. The NHS eyelid-surgery guide describes bruising, swelling, dryness and possible complications, but individual recovery differs.

Budget for a complete plan

Request a written estimate after examination. Ask what it includes: the proposed technique, anesthesia, tests, medicines, follow-up and any potential extra care. Revision complexity and individual findings can change the quotation. Budget separately for travel, accommodation and flexible dates. No website image, price headline or online message can guarantee a result.

For a practical starting point, review KOMD’s procedure directory, DI’s medical team and the clinic’s revision-eyelid page. Then prepare one concise record of your concerns, health history and tentative Seoul dates for the consultation.
