Authenticity Matters: Why Verification Is Important in Aesthetic Treatments

Safe aesthetic treatments in Korea begin with a qualified medical provider, a clear treatment plan and verifiable information about any injectable, medicine or device being used. Popularity, price and social media images are not substitutes for medical consultation.

Why Authenticity Matters in Aesthetic Medicine

Patients should know the name and purpose of the proposed product or device, who will perform the procedure and what documentation the clinic can provide. This supports informed consent and gives the patient useful records for future follow-up.

What “Verified” Should Mean

Verification should refer to specific, checkable information—not a general marketing claim. Ask the clinic to identify the manufacturer, product or device name, intended use and the relevant Korean regulatory status—approval, certification or notification—as applicable to the product category. Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety explains the medical-device approval framework.

How to Check Injectables and Medical Devices

Availability of particular documentation varies by product and clinic. The treating professional should explain what can be provided.

Documents to Request Before and After Treatment

Before treatment, request the written plan, estimate, consent information and practitioner details. After treatment, keep the date, treatment area, product or device information, dose or settings where applicable, and the clinic’s follow-up contact.

Warning Signs International Patients Should Notice

Pause when a provider will not identify the treating clinician, refuses to explain the product, pressures you to pay immediately, promises a guaranteed result or cannot explain aftercare and complication support.

How KOMD Supports Verification

KOMD can coordinate questions and request information from partner clinics, but the clinic and licensed medical professional remain responsible for product selection, treatment, records and medical advice.
