Planning medical tourism in Korea starts with a clinic conversation, a written quote and a confirmed appointment—not a flight booking. This practical guide helps international visitors organize those steps. It is published by KOMD, a registered foreign-patient facilitator based in Cheongju. Your chosen medical institution provides medical advice and confirms treatment suitability, prices and appointments.
What KOMD does: Send the name or website of the Korean hospital or clinic you choose. KOMD contacts that provider and helps coordinate the inquiry at its Korean local treatment rate, with no additional KOMD connection fee or markup. This does not mean every provider is a KOMD partner or that your appointment is already accepted. Optional travel services are separate and must be agreed in advance.
1. What should I prepare before contacting a clinic in Korea?
Begin with the clinic’s exact name and website, the city or branch you mean, your preferred visit dates and your preferred language. A social-media account alone may be ambiguous, so include the provider’s own website when you have it. If you are still researching, use our cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery consultation guide to organize questions for a clinician; the categories are not treatment recommendations.
You do not need to send medical records through KOMD’s initial website inquiry. If the institution later needs clinical information, ask it how to provide that information through its appropriate intake process. KOMD organizes communication; a coordinator’s reply is not a diagnosis or clinical assessment.
A useful first inquiry: “I would like to contact [clinic name and website], [branch/city], about its consultation process. My preferred dates are [dates] and my preferred language is [language]. Please confirm availability and the next step before I arrange travel.”
2. How much does medical tourism in Korea cost?
There is no single total that applies to every visitor. The provider, consultation, proposed treatment, tests, medicines, interpretation, accommodation and transport can have different scopes. A social-media offer or a price for one treatment is not a complete trip budget. Ask the medical institution for a written, itemized quote and distinguish confirmed charges from estimates.
- Clinical charges: Who provides the consultation and treatment, what is included, and which tests, medicines, anesthesia or follow-up visits are separate?
- Price conditions: Which currency and taxes apply? Is an advertised local offer available to you, and what can change after the clinician’s examination?
- Payment and cancellation: Who receives any deposit, when is the balance due, and what written cancellation, rescheduling and refund conditions apply?
- Travel services: Is interpretation, airport pickup, local transport or accommodation included, optional or unavailable for your dates? Request a separate price before agreeing.
KOMD’s connection fee is ₩0 additional. This describes KOMD’s clinic connection service. It does not make the clinic’s consultation or treatment free, remove applicable taxes, or include transport and hotels. The treating institution confirms its final price and terms before you decide.
3. When should I book flights and accommodation?
Wait for the clinic’s accepted appointment and preparation instructions before committing to travel. Your preferred date, a message sent to KOMD or an initial price discussion is not a confirmed reservation. Keep the institution’s written confirmation, branch address, appointment time and direct contact details together.
Ask your treating clinician whether the proposed visit needs preparation, more than one appointment, observation or follow-up, and when travel is appropriate for your individual plan. Do not assume that a treatment name means a fixed recovery period or a safe flight date. KOMD cannot set a medical stay or guarantee recovery.
If plans change, check both the clinic’s conditions and the separate conditions of your airline, hotel or transport provider. Entry requirements depend on your circumstances and current rules; use official immigration or embassy guidance rather than treating a clinic appointment as permission to enter Korea.
4. How do I plan airport arrival, transport and interpretation?
Confirm the clinic’s actual location before choosing your arrival route. Seoul, Incheon and Cheongju are different locations; an airport name alone does not confirm a suitable transfer. If you request help, provide your arrival airport, date, destination and language preference. Obtain the agreed meeting point, contact method, service scope and any separate charge before travel.
For language support, ask the institution which language is available for the clinical consultation, consent documents, payment explanation and follow-up. Do not assume that a multilingual website guarantees an interpreter for every language or date. Availability and the responsibilities of any separately arranged interpreter should be confirmed with the provider.
5. What should I obtain before leaving the clinic?
Ask the medical institution for its written care instructions, scheduled review appointments and the clinical contact to use for a concern after you return home. Confirm the contact’s availability and what to do when that service is unavailable. Ask how to request your medical records and which documents the institution can provide.
KOMD can help relay a coordination question to the provider. It does not replace clinical follow-up or emergency care and does not promise round-the-clock medical support. Follow the institution’s instructions; urgent medical concerns need appropriate medical attention rather than waiting for a travel coordinator.
Your Korea medical travel checklist

Who is responsible for each part of the visit?
You choose the provider and decide whether to proceed. KOMD contacts the chosen clinic and helps organize communication and visit details. The medical institution assesses suitability, provides treatment and confirms clinical instructions, final prices and booking conditions. Separate travel providers confirm their own services and terms.
For clinical consultation topics, see the eight details to confirm before a procedure. To start coordination, send KOMD the clinic name or link. Please leave medical records and sensitive health information out of the initial inquiry.
How can I verify a medical tourism facilitator in Korea?
Use the official Medical Korea registered-facilitator directory. Search KOMD and compare the name, registration A-2026-10-02-07015 and Cheongju location with our original certificate. A registration entry identifies a facilitator; it does not certify that a treatment is suitable for you or guarantee a clinical outcome.
For the clinic itself, verify its official name, branch and contact, and ask who will examine and treat you. Ask the institution how to check the relevant clinician’s professional credentials. A coordinator’s company registration is different from a medical professional’s qualifications.
Planning a medical tour in Seoul?
Use our Seoul clinic visit planning guide to check the exact branch and entrance, questions about the written quote, travel between appointments and the follow-up contact before returning home. Its quote comparison checklist separates medical care from language and travel support. District names alone do not establish journey times between clinics.
KOMD is based in Cheongju and helps connect inquiries with the clinic you choose in Korea. The Seoul guide describes visit planning, not a KOMD Seoul office. For public city resources, consult Seoul Tourism Organization’s Medical Tour Seoul.
About this guide and its sources
Published by KOMD on October 20, 2026. This coordination checklist brings together the practical arrival, consultation, language and follow-up topics in KOMD’s earlier website materials and its current chosen-clinic service. Historical experience, partnership, package and treatment-result claims were not used as current evidence. This is travel-coordination information, not a clinical recommendation or a medical review.
KOMD’s original foreign-patient facilitator registration certificate states registration A-2026-10-02-07015, valid June 17, 2026–June 16, 2029. For the registration system, see Medical Korea’s official registration information. Registration identifies the facilitator’s role; the treating institution remains responsible for clinical care.
